Problems of Women Activists and Campaign

One year ago in a public meeting a lady approached me and a group of friends and asked us to sign something called one-million campaign. This was the first time I was introduced to the title. The ladies who were following political activities and the rights of women had decided to collect one million signatures in support of changing discriminatory rules against women. This was called campaign which means fighting. Of course they experienced difficult conditions in the last year. Some were arrested and some were prosecuted. The current situation of the country which in an extremist approach believes public movements and non- governmental organizations are dangerous and cannot tolerate guild or gender gatherings naturally opposes this action of gathering one million signatures which will form a one-million group and as far as I know a lot of problems were created for them. Now what is more important than campaign is paying attention to the rights of women. Religious figures can, instead of following unnecessary and repetitive issues, try to find religious ways (even of the type of secondary rules) so that women get their rights and we can have a more just society. What is important is that: women should not be alone on the way of obtaining their rights. In our society which is dominated by men, women cannot gain this goal without support of men. The bill called "Supporting Family" which has recently been presented to parliament has increased worries of women. Based on this bill, men are not required to obtain the permit of the first wife in order to marry for the second time and also it is not necessary to register the temporary marriage in the notary office. Both points can seriously endanger the principles of the family and open the way for capricious men who accept no responsibility. If men do not support the active society of women in this regard, all the society will be harmed. I hope the parliament and especially the minority wing in the parliament try to remove such worries from our family-centered society by rejecting such bills.
